Item Description
20-5/8x30" foamcore board has 19-1/8x27.5" artboard w/India ink original art by "Dick Tracy" creator Chester Gould for Dec. 23, 1962 Sunday page. Christmas-themed art features 12 main panels, each having been cut out and applied to larger artboard, w/title stat paste-over (w/some glue staining) at top and separate "Crimestoppers Textbook" panel of original art. Art features Dick Tracy and Diet Smith aboard Smith's Space Coupe (which had debuted just a few months earlier on Aug. 26, 1962 and became so popular that Aurora released a model kit in 1968), where Space Coupe releases a self-inflating float depicting Santa Claus in his sleigh, which is pulled by reindeer and has "Good Will To Men" text at back. Dick Tracy is featured in four panels, Space Coupe appears in nine panels as well next to Crimestoppers panel, which gives tips to keep Christmas gifts safe. Gould has signed second to last panel (which also has two Christmas 1962 stamps). Third to last panel has Chicago Tribune copyright strip. Large inked date at top left. Tape at margins has aged, and art has some scattered aging, but could be matted and framed for a VF display.
