Item Description
9.5x11.5" artboard has 7.5x10.25" image area featuring mixed media original art for the title card for the 1960 Merrie Melodies short "Hyde And Go Tweet." Art features a terrified-looking Sylvester fleeing from the monstrously large Tweety, who has been transformed by Dr. Jekyll's formula. The short was directed by Friz Freleng and was based on "The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson. Tweety's large shadow can be seen on the wall behind Sylvester, and his hand reaches out and grabs the tip of Sylvester's tail. All text has been painstakingly hand-lettered and bottom margin has "A Warner Bros. Cartoon" paste-over and lower right corner of art has acetate 1959 copyright strip. Pin holes at corners w/some scattered handling wear/dust soiling to margins, but art remains clean and would display Exc. if matted and framed. Publicity/title card original art like this are very desirable and are rarely made available for sale.
