Item Description
17x22" Superior artboard has oil painting original art by Joe Simon (1913-2011) was possibly done for "Sick" magazine given it's irreverent tone, showing man standing before roaring fire, holding a copy of book titled "Big Game" in one arm, a pipe in his hand. His fireplace mantle features one of the popular panther statues that graced many bachelor pads of the 1950s and 1960s, as well as a rifle. The focal point of the painting is the three "trophy" taxidermy mounts; one a blonde college graduate, complete w/mortarboard, a long-haired brunette and a short-haired redhead. Each has small plaque w/years 1961-1962 under them. Simon has signed in black ink at bottom right. Left/right margins are unpainted as intended and painting shows some scattered aging, most noticeable on mantle vase and wall area above women's heads. Artboard has some corner tip wear, but could be matted and framed for VF display.
