Item Description
Total Television (TTV) Productions, c. 1960s. Detailed lead pencil animation storyboards on 4.5x8" "Tomkins Telepad" sheets. "Twinkles The Elephant" was a segment on "King Leonardo And His Short Subjects" and the character was also used as the mascot for General Mills "Twinkles" cereal (see Collegeville Trick-Or-Treat bag, item #1967). Offered here are the complete mixed media original art storyboards for episode 34, "Twinkles And The Birdcage." Numbered with typed identification numbers and penciled in scene numbers on some. Page numbers are 1-20. These pages map out the whole cartoon in art and dialogue and were often pulled apart and rearranged as the show came together. Storyline features Sanford the Parrot visiting Twinkles, telling him he's leaving home as he's tired of having to look for his own food and clean up after himself, opting to become a pet parrot. He finds a house and a little girl takes him in, putting him in a cage and never letting him out, much to Sandford's obvious dismay. Twinkles arrives and uses his vacuum-like trunk to free Sandford, imparting a moral lesson about laziness. Cover has some faint staining to handwritten label and crease along top. Some minor aging/wear of outer sheets and obvious oxidation to metal strip at top binding, many inner sheets are near perfect as produced so condition varies. Rare TTV original art.
