Item Description
10-5/8x15-7/8" artboard has pencil original art by George Tuska that has been inked by Vince Colletta. Art is for page 11 of "Iron Man" Vol. 1 #50, published by Marvel Sept. 1972. Page features four panels, showing Iron Man in flight above city, contemplating death and his own mortality and destiny. This line of thought leads him to decide he doesn't need Marianne in his life, thinking "This Is The Fate - And The Wish - Of An Iron Man!" Iron Man appears in every panel. Top margin has inkstamped title and handwritten issue/page numbers. Bottom margin has some blue pencil editorial notations and bottom right corner has been signed in red felt tip pen by Tuska. Back has Comics Code Authority inkstamp and some masking tape to secure new text section to artboard. A few squares of tape staining on back at top. Scattered margin staining on front w/dark spot of staining at bottom left and 2x4" area of lightly aged tape at bottom center used to secure text edits in place. Aged tape strips at top and right center margins. Artboard has small tear at top left and some corner tip wear and is Fine overall. Art remains clean for the most part and displays Fine/VF and would look nice if matted and framed. Privately held since shortly after publication, this is the first time this art has been offered at auction. From the Aaron Goodman Collection, Grandson of Martin Goodman, Founder of Marvel Comics.
