Item Description
Pair of approx. 11.25x16.25" DC Comics artboards feature pen and ink original art by noted war comic book artist Sam Glanzman for "G.I. Combat" #278, published by DC Comics July 1985. Two-page spread for pages 2-3 features seven panels, including large splash panel that spanned both pages. Upper left has portrait image of the ghost of Civil War General J.E.B. Stuart, who tells the story of a World War I tank crew, w/second through fourth panels offering glimpses of each members' pre-war life. A soldier is seen approaching tank w/three spectral soldiers standing in front of it. The soldier reacts in astonishment at the scene of wartime destruction depicted in splash panel while worrying about his tank and fellow soldiers in last panel. Glanzman has signed bottom left of first page. Top margin of each page has hand-inked title and issue/pages numbers. Back of each artboard has DC copyright stamp. Top margins have been trimmed and lower corners have been clipped, neither affecting art. First page has text correction paste-over stat and some corner tip wear at lower right. Second page has some lt. soiling along right margin. Art remains clean and Exc.
