Item Description
14.5x20.5" artboard has pen and ink original art for page 26 of "Speed Comics" #33, published by Harvey in July 1944. Art was created by comic book legend Joe Kubert (1926-2012) and is from "A Statue Of Horror" Black Cat story about an art gallery curator concerned about an unstable sculptor who seems to be threatening his life. Page features nine panels, showing Black Cat taking wounded reporter  who was shot to hospital and then heading to museum to confront curator, who then tells her of the threat against his life. Black Cat appears in seven panels. Bottom right has publication inkstamp w/"Speed" title, month and page written in ink. "Monstrosity" written in bottom margin w/correction, as if letterer was unsure how to spell word. Artboard has some scattered margin aging and lt. handling wear but art remains bright, clean and Exc. An amazing example from early in Kubert's long career.
