Item Description
11x17" thin artboard w/pen and ink original art for the cover to "Fantastic Four" #299, published by Marvel Comics in Feb. 1987. Art is by legendary Marvel Comics artists John Buscema (1927-2002) and his brother Sal Buscema. Art depicts She-Hulk (who was serving as a member of the Fantastic Four, as a temporary replacement for The Thing) punching The Thing through a brick wall, startling Spider-Man, who is perched on the wall's exterior. While The Thing wears civilian clothing, his shirt sports the familiar Fantastic Four "4" logo. The appearance of three major Marvel characters on one cover makes this an exceptional collectors piece. Top margin remains blank (published version features "Fantastic Four" title/logo w/continued brick bkg. And rectangles for publishing indicia at top/bottom left also remain blank aside from penciled "FF # 299 Cover" text where issue number would go. Bottom has penciled "The Buscemas" note. Pin holes and staple holes across top margin, which has some moderate age spotting/staining at upper right. Artboard has notable warp w/faint 11.5" diagonal crease across lower left. Artboard is Fine overall, but art area remains clean and displays Exc. Action-packed cover featuring art by both John and Sal Buscema.
