Item Description
18x24" artboard has mixed media original art by J.K. Woodward for IDW Publishing's "Star Trek: Harlan Ellison's City On The Edge Of Forever: The Original Teleplay." Noted author Harlan Ellison (1934-2018) wrote what is widely considered the best episode ever of "Star Trek," 1967's "The City On The Edge Of Forever." Fans of the series know, of course, that Ellison's full vision did not reach the screen as he intended; rather his teleplay was modified before the episode was filmed and aired. Seeking to remedy this Ellison joined forces w/IDW and various artists to present the story as Ellison intended, presented in comic book format. Art is for page 15 of issue #4 and features J.K. Woodward's art in six panels, showing a plainclothes Captain Kirk w/Edith Keeler (portrayed by Joan Collins), whom he falls in love w/but must let die to correct the course of history that had been altered by a heavily medicated Dr. McCoy, who had traveled back in time. Last three panels show a disguised Mr. Spock approaching and walking past the pair. Kirk is featured in all panels, w/Edith in four and Spock in three. Top of artboard has penciled title, issue/page number as well as "8/6/14" and "8/16/14" creation dates and Woodward signature, who also signed in black felt tip pen at bottom right. Top has also been boldly signed in gold paint pen by Collins above her image. Artboard has slight ripples but art is clean and Exc.
