Item Description
16x24-1/8". thin cardboard window card produced by "Tilghman Press" advertising a concert at "Richmond Civic Auditorium" on "Sat. Nite Jan. 11th" that featured Sam Cooke and Bobby Bland w/Al Braggs and Eloise Hester. Tiny surface paper lifts affecting the bold red text most notably on the "C" of "Cooke", a few scattered light brown moisture marks that do not affect the central design and corner wear most notably a .5" sliver of loss at top right. Otherwise moderate handling wear most notably at top left and age toning at edges. Fine. Eleven months to the day after this show Cooke was shot and killed in a dispute at a Los Angeles motel. In his 33 years he enjoyed enormous success as the leading voice of soul music who is remembered as the brightest star of the genre today. A classy window card featuring two Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame inductees that made countless contributions to music history. This is the first example we have encountered in five decades.
