Item Description
Cartoonist Gahan Wilson's cartoons and illustrations are drawn in a playfully grotesque style and have a dark humor that is often compared to the work of "Addams Family" creator Charles Addams. Inspired by the irreverent work of the various satiric "Mad" and "Punch cartoonists," as well as 1950s sci-fi monster films, his cartoons and prose fiction appeared regularly in "Playboy, Collier's" and "The New Yorker" for almost 50 years. Offered here is an pen and ink original art for cartoon on 9x12" sheet of stiff artpaper artboard showing female medium channeling a trio of ghoulish spirits as customer eagerly leans forward. Handwritten pencil caption at bottom reads "'Congratulations, J.H.! We Believe We've Worked Out A Technique Whereby You Can Take It With You!'" Art is for an unknown publication and has been signed by Wilson in ink at bottom right of image. Sheet has scattered margin aging and small area of marking at top center and small stain at lower right margin. Art is o/w clean and VF.
