Item Description
10.5x15.75" artboard w/pen and ink original art by Nestor Redondo (who took over art duties from Bernie Wrightson) for page 18 of "Swamp Thing" #16, published by DC Comics in May 1975. Six panel page features Swamp Thing walking back into the jungle after hearing gunfire and wondering about girl left behind. Last two panels features "Otherwhere 3" sequence, showing two panels w/Jefferson Bolt strapped to chair as Mr. E demands the machine be used on him again noting "I Don't Care If It Does Turn Him Into A Blasted Vegetable!" and says he needs to know if Swamp Thing is still alive. Last panel reveals Mr. E in wheelchair, wearing equipment-studded vest. It was under Mr. E's orders that Alec and Linda Holland were killed for refusing to give up the Bio-Restorative Formula they were working on, leading to the creation of Swamp Thing, who appears in first four panels. All text has been hand-lettered. Bottom has "The Destiny Machine" hand-lettered title for next issue along w/stat paste-over portrait of Swamp Thing. Top margin has hand-lettered "Swamp Thing" title and issue/page number. Back has NPP copyright stamp w/inked date and issue information. Artboard comes w/vellum overlay attached at top. Artboard is evenly aged and has some scattered handling wear w/strips of tape staining at top/bottom center margins. Artboard is Fine/VF overall but art remains clean and displays Exc.
