Item Description
11-1/8x17" Marvel Comics artboard has pen and ink original art for page 9 of "Silver Surfer" Vol. 3 #36, published by Marvel April 1990. Art by Ron Lim has been inked by Tom Christopher. Writer Jim Starlin returned to "Silver Surfer" in 1990 beginning w/issue #34 w/Lim providing art. Their storyline developed through the next 16 issues and the two-issue "Thanos Quest" limited series before concluding in the fan-favorite storyline "The Infinity Gauntlet" (itself serving as the basis for the recent blockbuster film "Avengers: Infinity War"). Predating "The Infinity Gauntlet," page features three panels, recapping events that happened in "Avengers" Annual #7 (1977). First panel features Thanos before his Star Gem w/text caption mentioning his "Entropy Trip." Second panel features The Avengers (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Beast, Moondragon) as well as Spider-Man, Warlock, Captain Marvel and The Thing rushing to battle. Third panel features great battle scene w/Thanos going toe to toe w/Thor at center. Warlock is seen laying on the ground as Beast, Iron Man, Thing, Captain Marvel, Vision and Captain America battle in bkg. Top margin has large stamped "Silver Surfer" title (as well as having title in pencil along w/penciled issue/page numbers. Some scattered production notations in margins. Upper left has .75" tear that extends ever so slightly into image area, but this does not detract greatly. Artboard has some lt. scattered handling wear/dust soiling and is Fine/VF overall w/Exc. art. A great example from the beginning of Thanos' quest to impress Death, featuring an impressive roster of Marvel heroes assembled to thwart him. Comes w/reading copy of the comic book this art was produced for.
