Item Description
4.5x9.5" thin artboard has pen and ink original art by Peter Bagge, a cartoonist whose best-known work includes the comics "Hate" and "Neat Stuff." His stories often use black humor and exaggerated cartooning to dramatize the reduced expectations of middle-class American youth. He won two Harvey Awards in 1991, one for best cartoonist and one for his work on "Hate." Offered here is a editorial cartoon from the "WAP!" newsletter published by Frank Miller, Steve Gerber and Steven Grant in the 1980s depicting a bony, hag-like depiction of Frank Miller in a Superman-inspired costume, w/the chest shield having the letters "WAP," which stands for Words And Pictures. Bagge's hand-lettered word balloon reads "Censorship? Golly No! Not Us!" Bagge has initialed his art at lower right and has signed in black ink at bottom, adding "'92" date. Right margin is a bit uneven, but art remains clean and Exc.
