Item Description
Pair of 11.25x17" artboard w/pen and ink original art for two-page spread in "Milk And Cheese" #1, published by Slave Labor Graphics in 1991. Several "Milk And Cheese" strips were printed in various comic books and magazines before Slave Labor Graphics collected them and published "Milk & Cheese" #1. Art is by Milk & Cheese creator Evan Dorkin and features two-page spread from "Jury Duty" storyline where the devious dairy duo are picked for jury selection, w/the expected chaos and tragic/comic results. Page begins w/jury selection, which Milk & Cheese exuberantly volunteer for (the pair are the depicted w/angel halos). After some doubts from jury foreman, Cheese threatens to "Peel Your Face Like An Onion And Feed It To The Sewer Rats Under The #1 Train." They are then picked and the trial commences. Upon the bailiff asking the court to rise, both Milk & Cheese shout "Guilty! Guilty! Oh, He's Guilty As Sin!!!" to which the judge calls for order (w/a sneaky joke mixed in from the bailiff). Every time the judge moves the trial along, Milk & Cheese have loud outbursts, from calling the first witness names to calling said witness a liar while he's sworn in. Upset that the witness cannot receive the death penalty, Milk & Cheese throw a wine bottle at the witness, shattering it over his head. Both are held in contempt and then arrested, shouting all the while that the trial is a sham and that they're being set up. Final panel sees Cheese shout "Witness - Justice - Milk & Cheese Style!" Bottom margin of first page has inked inscription "To Brian - Thanks A Lot! Evan Dorkin" w/Dorkin's typical margin illustration of Milk w/ "So What!?!" dialog. Bottom of second pages has been signed "Even Dorkin 1992" w/image of Cheese saying "He Stinks!" Art has some fading to black felt tip pen inking at spots, but this is not overly distracting and all art remains distinct. Top margins have penciled "M&C Jury Duty" along w/"pg 2" and "pg 3" notations. Artboards have lt. handling wear but art remains clean and VF/Exc.
