Item Description
Ireene Wicker was The Singing Lady, telling fairy tales and singing to the nation's children on a highly popular radio program called "The Singing Story Lady." Kellogg's, the show's longtime sponsor, offered a number of cereal premiums - mostly song and story booklets - designed by illustrator Vernon Grant. This and the following three lots  (items #2160-2162) feature Grant-like designs for 1930s Singing Lady premium prototypes designed by Sam Gold. 12x14.25" sheet of vellum features mixed media original art for cereal box designs for back and one side panel. Art is for "'Bye, Baby Bunting'" story panel w/cut-out pieces on side panel to cut out and apply to indicated areas of "Mother Goose 'Paste-Up' Picture" story image. Hand-lettered text includes title w/"Told By Kellogg's Singing Lady." Sheet has some margin wear w/two 3.5" streak of aging at top, not affecting art. Sheet is Fine overall while art remains clean and Exc. Comes w/4-1/8x5.75" artboard w/cut-outs of Baby Bunting and his sister applied like they would in the finished premium. All tempera original art, featuring style very similar to that of Vernon Grant. Exc. Also comes w/"American Advertising & Research Corp." envelope, from Sam Gold's company, who produced this. Unique lot. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
