Item Description
12.5x23.75" sheet of vellum has mixed media original art (including pastels) for 1950s Scotch Tape premium sign advertising "Make-Believe Patches." Scotch did a number of similar premium promotions during the 1950s, w/premiums being issued w/rols of tape (see lot #2205). Art features five different patch images at left, including "Jet Pilot, Millionaire Club Member, Engineer, Miss America" and "Indianapolis" race winner w/images of jet, racecar, train and beauty queen w/pencil images of children in make-believe outfits surrounding patch art. Additional "Jet Pilot" image appears at right w/package of Scotch Tape. Hand-lettered "Kids! Collect These Plastic Make-Believe Patches With Adhesive Backs... Ready To Stick On Jackets, Caps, Etc. - Free With Regular-Size Rolls Of Scotch Brand Cellophane Tape." Of note, "Scotch" name is nicely rendered in tartan plaid. Three heavy vertical creases w/horizontal crease at center. Pinholes at corners. Fine overall. Unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
