Item Description
Lot of all original art for 1950s series of 36 automobiles, airlines, railroad and bus insignias that became two different premiums; called Emblems instead of Insignias and made of embossed tin. Post produced a railroad series and Wheaties produced a car series. Offered here is 13.75x17-3/8" sheet of vellum w/mixed media original art for sign promoting the then titled "Transportation Insignia" premiums, showing boy on bicycle at bottom w/seven different Insignia examples - "Nash, Santa Fe, United Airlines, Buick Pennsylvania Railroad" as well as logos for Cadillac and Pontiac. Hand-lettered text notes "36 Insignia In The Series - Get Them All" as well as "Colorful, Embossed Miniatures Of World-Famous Emblems!" Bottom right has blank area for product image, but none is shown. Sheet has been folded into quarters and shows some lt. wear along fold lines. VF overall. Prototype sign comes w/15 hand-cut and assembled prototype Insignias, all featuring original art w/exception of Cadillac logo (which features some cut-out color stats). All but one are car Insignias, including - Plymouth, Packard, Studebaker, Ford, Chevrolet, Lincoln, Aero Willys, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Kaiser, Pontiac, Nash, Buick and De Soto as well as single airline - United. Some lt. aging and wear (aging is more moderate to Cadillac stats), but o/w Exc. overall. Unique art. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
