Item Description
Interesting lot for this 1949 Post cereal premium promotion. 8-1/8x13" Post's "Raisin Bran" cereal box flat has had cut-out panel w/mixed media original art added to front panel, showing three different "'Globe-Trotter' Cloth Sew-On" patches. Side panel also has attached panel w/original art showing three different patch designs and hand-lettered list of world locales featured on patches and text concerning ideas for use. Box has moderate aging and some scattered glue staining. Lid and inner flap show some remnants as actual box was opened. Fine overall. Comes w/four approx. 3x3" prototype patches, featuring mixed media original art on front w/simulated sticker backs. These include - Louisiana "The Pelican State," Texas "The Lone Star State," California "The Golden State" and Florida "The Peninsula State." Each patch features image of the state along w/related state feature - pelican, cattle drive (w/cowboy), Golden Gate Bridge and woman water-skiing. All are Exc. Comes w/11x17.5" waxed paper box wrapper w/inset ad on front/full panel ad on back for the series of 44 state patches w/images from America and all over the world issued as box inserts. A number of examples shown. Wrapper design also includes instructions plus additional premium ad for a "Air Speed Indicator" which has Dec. 31, 1949 expiration date. Wrapper has lt. vertical crease at center but is o/w bright and clean. Exc. Comes w/18x29.5" file copy cloth sheet featuring 44 different patch designs. Vertical fold at center (not running through any patches) and sheet has some scattered aging but patches are o/w NM. Extensive and unique lot.
