Item Description
7-1/8x22-7/8" thin artboard w/India ink original art by "Terry And The Pirates" creator Milton Caniff. Art is for Aug. 17, 1939 and features five panels, w/Pat and Connie asking Big Stoop to act out what he saw at enemy camp. Stoop proceeds to construct tiny scarecrow soldier, letting Pat and Connie (who appear in first and last panels) know that Klang is trying to lure Dragon Lady into a trap. Caniff has signed fourth panel. First panel has News Syndicate Co., Inc. copyright strip. Top left has inked "Terry" name at left margin and inked "Stoop Stars As Buddhist Bergen" title at right. Back has Tribune Engravers Room inkstamp. Faint receiving stamp on front at right margin. First panel has strip of staining from paste-over on word balloon. Scattered dust soiling/aging w/single pinhole at top corners. Artboard has some corner foxing and is Fine overall. Last panel has some surface paper lifts w/ink touch-up but o/w art is clean and VF.
