Item Description
15x20" Mercury Illustration Board has two separate cut out panels w/pen and ink original art and hand-lettered text.  Art is for page 36 of "All-New Comics" 3, published by Family Comics, May 1943. Art is by Joe Simon (1913-2011), who is perhaps best-known as the co-creator of Captain America. Title page art is for All-New's "True Short Story Of The Month" feature, entitled "Trail Blazing To Victory" and features large inset portrait of then Lt. General Mark Clark overlooking map of Great Britain, the English Channel and the North Sea. Bottom of page has illustrations of desert town w/3x4.5" sign having glue staining from now missing paste-over. Top margin has handwritten "1943 May - All New" text in blue pencil and bottom center margin has "May All New P. 36" text in red ink. Artboard has moderate scattered wear and aging w/surface flaking at corners and scattered dust soiling. Artboard itself is VG, but art remains clean and Fine/VF. Interesting World War II content.  Dan Makara Collection.
