Item Description
Lot consists of pair of 12.75x24" sheets of vellum w/mixed media original art for two different signs promoting 1950s "Space Patches" plastic premium, each w/similar art of boy and girl w/these patches on their clothing at left and actual size art examples of the patches themselves at right. Both have same hand-lettered "Free Plastic Space Patches With Adhesive Backs - They Stick To Anything!" text. Bottoms feature different issuer; both have "One In Every Package Of" w/one having "Wyler's Soup" w/image of box of Chicken Noodle Soup package while other has generic "Franks" w/image of package of hotdogs. Both sheets have single horizontal crease through center w/three vertical creases and scattered handling wear/aging. "Franks" sheet has pinholes at corners w/.5" piece off upper right corner and chip to top margin. This one is Fine overall while other is Fine/VF. Sign prototypes come w/pair of artboards, one 6x10.5" w/three fully realized original art patch designs - "Flying Saucer, Space Man" and "Space Ship Pilot." Artboard has some handling wear but art remains bright, clean and Exc. Back has "A Creation Of Sam Gold - Premium King" foil crown sticker. 7-1/8x9-1/8" artboard features same original art patch designs, but these have been cut out and mounted to board w/hand-lettered "Colorful Plastic Jacket Space Patches - 6 In The Series,,, Get 'Em All! - Adhesive Backs That Stick To Anything...
