Item Description
15x21.75" thin artboard has pen and ink original art for page 5 of "Lone Ranger" #72, published by Dell, Jan. 1954. Page has six panels, showing Lone Ranger and Tonto together in five panels, and just Lone Ranger in the other panel. Art shows Lone Ranger and Tonto mounting surprise attack on group of Native American warriors, riding through their midst on Silver and Scout. Lone Ranger saves Tonto from being speared before the pair retreat. Bottom margin has been penciled "The Lone Ranger" title and title/page number. This information is repeated along lower left margin, inked along art panel edge. Artist Gill has signed in pencil at lower right margin. Pin holes at top and bottom left corners w/sliver off bottom left corner. Top margin has strip of tape added on back, which hangs over top slightly. Right center margin has some tape staining (w/small area of tape staining affecting edge of art in last panel) and small artist signature panel paste-over in fifth panel has heavy aging, but art remains clean and would display Exc. if matted and framed.
