Item Description
14.25x19.75" artboard w/pen and ink original art for page 4 of "Strange Adventures" #156, published by DC Comics Sept. 1963. Art is by Murphy Anderson (1926-2015), known as one of the premier inkers of his era, who worked for companies such as DC Comics for over fifty years, starting in the Golden Age of comic books in the 1940s. He worked on such characters as Hawkman, Batgirl, Zatanna, The Spectre and Superman. Art is for Atomic Knights story "Threat Of The Witch-Woman" and features one of the Knights (out of armor) dodging blasts from a large electrical alien, which may or may not be a vivid hallucination. Bottom right margin has blue ink inscription from Anderson, who wrote "Best Wishes To George Hagenauer From Murphy Anderson - 23 Jul 83." Top of artboard has "DC/Strange Adventures" topper, which is printed state paste-over. Pin holes/staple holes at corners. Margins have some scattered production notations and aging. Artboard is Fine/VF, but art remains clean and Exc. Dan Makara Collection.
