Item Description
14-5/8x22-3/8" artboard w/nine panels of India ink original art by Clarence D. Russell (1895-1963) for Nov. 3, 1940 Sunday page for "Pete The Tramp," which was distributed by King Features Syndicate for more than three decades. Artboard shows Pete as soldier trying to pass inspection. He asks an old soldier what they look for in these inspections, to which he replies they pay close attention to one's teeth, causing Pete to run to the pawn shop, where he hocked his false teeth for two dollars. The shop owner says he'll need collateral, to which it's revealed at the inspection that Pete hocked his army uniform. Eighth panel has KFS copyright strip. Top/bottom margins have some editorial notations and printer labels at top bottom corners. Margins show scattered aging and handling wear. Fine/VF overall, but art remains clean and Exc.
