Item Description
Pair of thin artboards w/India ink original art by Jimmy Swinnerton. Both artboards measure 11.75x16.25" and comprise the complete Sunday page for Feb. 24, 1946. Artboard has "Little Jimmy" title stat paste-over and art features total of 13 panels, showing Jimmy's mother getting a phone call to pick up some butter from a neighbor. She sends Jimmy to pick it up and hours later he hasn't returned. She goes out driving, looking for him only to see him playing basketball w/other children. Distracted by this, she crashes her car into a parked police car, and receives scolding and ticket. When she asks Jimmy why he forgot the butter, he shows her it's on the table and tells her he went back out to play after dropping it off. Page ends w/mother asking Jimmy if he wants more cake and ice cream, much to the confusion of his father. Last panel has King Features Syndicate, Inc. copyright strip. Some scattered editorial notations in margins w/printer's labels at corners. Back has engraver's inkstamp. Pieces have been taped together w/blue painter's tape on back. Bottom artboard has inkstamped date at upper right margin. Artboards have some scattered handling wear/aging, but art remains clean and VF/Exc. overall.
