Item Description
22x26.25" frame holds pen and ink original art for unpublished "Green Lantern" comic page. Art features six panels, showing Golden Age Green Lantern and his sidekick Doiby Dickles fighting gangsters, w/Doiby attempting to leave in his taxi w/his adopted father, only to be stopped by Green Lantern's ring. Green Lantern and Doiby both appear in all six panels. Art is by Paul Reinman (1910-1988), an American comic book artist best known as one of Jack Kirby's frequent inkers during the Silver Age. Art was assembled from three strips to make one page. Art remains bright, clean and Exc. Art was apparently intended for an issue of "All-American Comics," but this story was abandoned. Art is further enhanced by great inner mat created by artist Dan Makara, featuring collage style utilizing Golden Age Green Lantern comic panels from the 1940s as well as full color specialty original art by Golden Age Green Lantern creator Martin Nodell (who has signed at lower left) and Irwin Hasen (who has signed at upper right). Wonderful display. Dan Makara Collection.
