Item Description
20.5x25.5" wooden frame holds wonderful original art cover recreation for "Adventure Comics" #44 (Nov. 1939) featuring Golden Age Sandman Wesley Dodds retrieving deed from open wall safe as unconscious owner slumps against bookcase. Art was recreated by the original cover artist - Creig Flessel (1912-2008), an American comic book artist noted for his work on Golden Age Sandman and Shining Knight. Beautifully painted cover recreation is further enhanced by crafted custom double mat created by artist Dan Makara, featuring collage style utilizing various comic panels from late 1930s issue of "Adventure Comics," featuring images of Sandman that have been lightly painted over. Lower left has image of cartoon boy w/word balloon reading "Fellers!! Better Hurry - - There May Still Be A Few Left On The Newsstands!!" Bottom center has painted banner reading "Another Thrilling Episode Of The Sandman In This Issue!" Top center of frame has bold "The Sandman" hand-painted name.
