Item Description
19x24" wooden frame holds wonderful original art cover recreation for "Green Lantern" #5 (Sept. 1942) featuring Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott lifting tank into the air w/his ring to protect soldiers. Art was recreated by the original cover artist - Irwin Hasen (1918-2015), noted for his 1940s work on Green Lantern and for creating Justice Society of America member Wildcat. Beautifully painted cover recreation is further enhanced by crafted custom mat created by artist Dan Makara, featuring cut out comic panels from 1940s comic issues featuring Wildcat at one corner, Doctor Mid-Nite at the other w/images of boys wearing beanies decorated w/buttons at opposite corners. Hasen has personalized art at bottom, writing "To The One And Only - Dan - And My Friend!" Hasen has signed at lower right, adding "'04" date. Exc. Dan Makara Collection.
