Item Description
Lot of three thin sheets of paper have mixed media prototype original art for signs promoting 1950s "Comic Standups" figures premium promotion. These sign prototypes measure between 12x21" and 12.75x23.75" Each features art done completely from scratch; all w/art images of packaged franks. One is not specific to brand whereas other two clearly state Armour Franks and Swift's Premium Franks (this being paste-over w/hand-lettered text). Each features mostly same hand-lettered text, reading "Kids! Free... Comic Standups - Collect These Famous Colorful Comic Standups... Dick Tracy, Orphan Annie, Sandy, Smitty And Many Others... In Full Color! 18 Different Famous Comic Characters In The Series!" Signs features same art of characters mentioned above at left below large Dick Tracy portrait. Swift's sheet is more fully realized and also has image of Dick Tracy and Orphan Annie on Franks packaging. Backs of non-specific and Swift's sheets have "A Creation Of Sam Gold - Premium King" foil crown stickers. Each sheet has heavy vertical crease at center w/scattered handling wear and pin holes.
