Item Description
Original 11x14" title card for The Three Stooges' 85th short film for Columbia, 1945's "Idiots Deluxe." The story deals w/The Stooges as Moe is on trial for assaulting Larry and Curly. Moe appeals to the judge, claiming he is a sick man who was instructed by his doctor to maintain peace and quiet. This peace is broken by Larry and Curly who are loudly rehearsing their musical routine. Moe snaps and wraps Curly's trombone slide around their necks. Realizing Moe isn't feeling well, Larry and Curly decide to take their ailing leader on a hunting trip to relieve his stress. Hijnks ensue. Title card features all Three Stooges playing instrument; Larry w/clarinet and drum, Moe w/trumpet and Curly playing trombone and flinching as Moe plays in his ear. Large drum at center has "The Three Stooges - Curly - Larry - Moe" names. Card is evenly aged and has pinholes at corners and along left/right margins. Some scattered dust soiling w/small spot of staining to left of "Deluxe" in title. Back has horizontal strip of wide paper tape, not affecting front's display. VG/Fine overall. All lobby cards from this short are rare and desirable, none more so than the title. First we've offered in our 50 years. Wonderfully humorous image.
