Item Description
22-3/8x30.5" beautifully crafted custom frame holds wonderful cover recreation for "Wonder Woman" #146 (May 1964) featuring Wonder Woman tied to sinking buoy, w/spear clasped between her feet as she attempts to fend off advancing sea monster. Art originally created by Ross Andru was recreated by the inker for this issue - Mike Esposito (1927-2010), an American comic book artist whose work for DC Comics, Marvel Comics and others spanned the 1950s to the 2000s. As a comic book inker teamed w/his childhood friend Andru, he drew for such major titles as "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "Wonder Woman." Bottom left has been signed "'Espo'" and lower right has handwritten title, issue number and original publication date. Art is further enhanced by great frame (w/custom starry matte) created by artist Dan Makara, featuring collage style utilizing various Silver Age Wonder Woman images. Exc. Dan Makara Collection.
