Item Description
14.5x17.5" bamboo-like frame holds wonderful cover recreation for "Detective Comics" #8 (Oct. 1937) featuring Asian man staring at glowing treasure before him. Art was recreated by the original cover artist - Creig Flessel (1912-2008), an American comic book artist noted for his work on Golden Age Sandman and Shining Knight. Beautifully painted cover recreation is further enhanced by crafted custom double matte created by artist Dan Makara, featuring collage style utilizing various comic panels from late 1930s issue of "Detective Comics," featuring stereotypical depictions of Asian characters. Exc. Dan Makara Collection.
