Item Description
10-5/8x15.75" thin artboard w/pen and ink original art by Frank Brunner for "Marvel Premiere" #6, published by Marvel in Jan. 1973. Brunner, a comic book artist/illustrator who worked for Marvel Comics in the 1970s, working w/mystical and supernatural titles such as "Dr. Strange, The Tomb Of Dracula, Man-Thing" and "Silver Surfer" also provided covers for "Red Sonja" and "Savage Sword Of Conan." Art is for Gardner Fox's "The Shambler From The Sea" story and has been inked by another iconic creator - Sal Buscema. Art features five panels showing Doctor Strange in battle w/the sea monster N'Gabthoth and Ebora, attempting to save Clea and Wong, who have been chained to an altar. Last panel shows Ebora reacting as demonic hands break the chains binding Clea and Wong. Doctor Strange appears in four of five panels. Back has partial sketch of hair and penciled number code as well as Comics Magazine Code Authority stamp w/1972 date. Back also has 1984 Marvel copyright stamp (likely for reprinting purposes). Top margin has handwritten title as well as issue/page number in black felt tip pen. Bottom margin has Red Sonja-related text ad paste-over as well as "Continued After Next Page" paste-over. Both have been taped down. Top/bottom and left/right center margins tape staining, which only extends into art at center left. This area also has some scattered staining by image of Clea and Wong. Upper right has some faint scattered staining as well. Artboard is Fine overall but most of art remains clean and Fine to VF overall.
