Item Description
HMH Publishing Co. This is "Red Star Copy," which is so named because of the small red star appearing to the left of the "Playboy" title on front cover. "Sweetheart Of The Month" Marilyn Monroe centerfold featuring the classic "Golden Dreams" nude photo. Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey article. Norman Holland, Bob Norman, William Marsh and Ambrose Bierce text. Off-white to white pages. The CGC Census currently documents that 170 copies of the more common newsstand printing have been certified to date, compared to 45 copies of the "Page 3" variation w/just 14 examples of the "Red Star" variation having been graded. This variety is much rarer than the standard newsstand edition.
