Item Description
5.25x18.5" thin artboard w/India ink original art by Barney Google creator Billy DeBeck. Art is for March 28, 1927 and features four panels, w/first panel being text only. Art features Barney Google talking w/Eric Van Horn, discussing how Barney has fixed things and only wants to spend a few days w/his horse Spark Plug. Barney is seen sleeping beside Spark Plug in second art panel, causing jockey Sunshine to worrying about Barney, mentioning some days he complains that his bed is too hard only to sleep on the floor the following day. Sunshine's speech is in typical stereotypical style of the period. Top margin has blue pencil "Sunshine Can't Make It Out" title and strip number #433. DeBeck has signed last panel. Third panel has King Features Syndicate copyright strip. Top margin is a bit uneven, but this does not affect art, which remains clean and Exc. Rare original art for early strip.
