Item Description
18.75x25" first print poster on flat index stock for "Toronto Rock'nRoll Revival" music festival that took place Sept. 13, 1969 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto, Canada. Poster features splendid mirrored graphics of tuba players, each w/guitar flanking young barefoot hippie woman wearing bellbottoms and shaking a large tambourine. This single-day event featured an unlisted performance by John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band (featuring Eric Clapton, Klaus Voorman, Alan White and Yoko Ono) as well as listed acts - Whiskey Howl, Bo Diddley, Chicago (Transit Authority), Junior Walker & The All-Stars, Tony Joe White, Alice Cooper, Chuck Berry, Cat Mother & The All-Night Newsboys, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, Little Richard, Doug Kershaw, Kim Fowley and The Doors. Ticket prices are listed at bottom center w/"In Toronto - All Sam The Record Man Stores. In Hamilton - Sheraton Connaught Hotel" printed below. Majority of these posters have no additional text beyond the ticket prices, the notation of locations is a notably scarcer variety. This event featured the first public performance by Beatles legend John Lennon in over three years as well as the infamous Alice Cooper "chicken incident." Poster has been linen-mounted and has had some minor margin restoration along right w/upper right corner having been cleaned. Upper left margin shows some lt. wear, but this does not detract greatly. Now displays Exc. as linen-mounted. At the conclusion of the 13 hours show The Doors preformed "The End" w/Jim Morrison noting what an honor it was to be preceded by "So Many Illustrious Musical Geniuses." A historically important show that featured many of the legendary figures of rock 'n roll w/a mixture of acts that would go on to greatly impact the genre.
