Item Description

Four-piece, late 1920s set consisting of Engine #4019, "United States Mail Railway Post Office" car #4040 and un-numbered passenger cars "American" and "Pleasant View." 13" long painted tin engine has all four original brass plates on sides - two "4019" and two "American Flyer Lines." Original motor has been rewired to run and has new pick-up assembly. Engine has additional replaced parts including wheels, light cases, couplers and pantagraph. Paint on body has moderate scratches, one window has dent. VG overall. Three 14" long tin litho w/painted tin roof cars have opening doors, lighted interiors, celluloid window panes and original couplers. All have nice realistic lithography, "Pleasant View" has brass-plated observation platform at rear. All show typical wear to roofs w/some paint chipping and litho tin sides show lt. aging. "America" has .5x1.5" area of degraded paint at one roof corner. Cars are overall Fine. A nice set that shows the typical care that went into the design and manufacturing of trains of this period.
