Item Description
This chimp was part of Frank Bostock's show, see previous item, and button is likely from Coney Island or the Pan-American exposition, Buffalo 1901. Consul sits dressed in formal attire in a chair holding a cigar in his mouth. At the very center are a couple of tiny lighter colored brown dots which was in the development of the photographic paper and at lower left on the background is a single darker dot, also as made. Among Consul's accomplishments was riding a bicycle and using a typewriter upon which he could boldly type his name. Known as "The Man Chimp" between 1894 and 1903 he attracted as many as 16,000 visitors a day. No back paper if it had one. High gloss and VF.
