Item Description
Complete screen-worn male chimpanzee costume, though not all pieces are of matched sizes. 30.5" tall by 22" wide (at shoulders) green short tunic is 41 chest and has brown and green leather trim as well as nubby sweater-like sleeve inserts. Western Costume Co. sewn-in tag noting "No. 2771-1" and inked "McDowall R." name, though this was not Roddy McDowall's costume and is not being offered as such. Comes w/matching 34" waist by 32" inseam pants w/sewn-in Western Costume tag noting "No. 2771-4" and size. Buttons on inside of waistband for securing tunic. Small metal buckles for adjusting size on left/right. Green fabric shows some scattered lt. aging, more noticeable to sleeves of tunic by leather, but o/w tunic and pants are VF overall. Costume also includes pair of chimpanzee foot-shaped boots, which were molded in rubber and covered w/matching green cloth. These are size "10" as noted by stamped numbers on undersides of painted shoe soles. Soles show some paint wear but are o/w VF.
