Item Description
11.5x11.5x11" tall (13-7/8" tall to top of fold down marquee) tin litho "Shoe Lace Service Station" has painted tin roof and three sides lithographed to resemble service station, w/one side showing man seated in large shoe w/automobile wheels as service technician laces shoe. Sides of building show gas pumps w/"Woodlawn Mills" text on bases and globes, which also have "Pairs Black" or "Pairs Brown" markings. Back of display is open and features seven tin shelves to hold boxes of Woodlawn Mills shoe laces. Entire unit is attached to painted wooden base, which shows obvious wear at corners. Display was made by the Advertising Metal Display Co. Inc. of Chicago, IL as noted on back of fold down marquee on "roof" of display. One of the most uniquely designed and executed advertising displays of the 1920s w/great attention to detail. Display has overall lt. yellowing/aging, w/a few areas paint nicks/scratches and some spots of bare metal w/some oxidation inside shelves. Displays Fine overall and would be a wonderful addition to any early advertising collection.
