Item Description
We believe these dolls to be FAO Schwarz exclusives. Produced in 1962 by Aboriginals Ltd. Morticia originally sold for $19.95. Inspired by the cartoons of Charles Addams, many appearing in "The New Yorker" magazine, doll was sold two years before premiere of ABC-TV show "The Addams Family." Morticia doll stands 48" tall and has starched linen face w/braided string hair and stuffed cloth body. Velvet-like dress. Right edge of face has streak of aging but face is o/w very clean. Chest has some lt. dust soiling, but aside from that, doll is Exc. Doll is complete w/3-3/8x5" four-page cardstock folder/string tag w/"A Chas Addams Character" on front. Tag opens to reveal wonderful illustration by Addams of The Addams Family seated for dinner, Lurch presenting a two-headed roast pig. Back features text about the three dolls Aboriginals Ltd. produced for this line, which also included Wednesday and her brother Irving (Pugsley). Card has some creases at hole for string and along edge, but still attached to doll. Fine. Rare, only the second example (and by far the best condition example) of this Morticia doll we've offered in our 49 years.
