Item Description
13.75x21.75" thin cardboard window card for "Dracula - The World Famous Vampire Thriller." Card is for Ford's Theatre in Baltimore, MD and was printed by Golden Posters. States performances beginning Nov. 5, 1928. This is Hamilton Deane's dramatical treatment of Bram Stoker's classic story, the first adaptation approved by Stoker's widow. Debuting in England in 1924, the play was revised in 1927 for American audiences by John L. Balderston. The American version of this play starred Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula w/Edward Van Sloan playing Dr. Van Helsing, roles the two would reprise for Universal's classic 1931 film adaptation. Card features gruesome image of Dracula w/bat wing ears and reptilian features, complete w/sharp fangs and drooling mouth. Bears "New York Herald-Tribune" testimonial stating "Better Than 'The Bat'." Card has had slight margin trim (not affecting any text or image) and has been professionally backed w/moderate restoration. As such, card now retains an VF/Exc. appearance. Great early image associated w/Dracula.
