Item Description
This piece is 1.25” tall and very similar to the preceding much larger item. While the two pieces are very similar there are tiny differences in the accent lines and on the larger piece the crown of the hat is smooth where as on this it has a ‘Step’ outline. There are no markings. The reverse of the piece has a pair of soldered on needle post points, one at the top and one at the bottom. These would require a pair of clutches to wear the piece securely but these are not present. This is the only example we know of and we have searched the internet for the possibility that his could be a reproduction. However, this is not the case as we found no examples sold or offered anywhere. Our conclusion is that this is an authentic item circa Sept. 1937-Oct. 1938 when Orson Welles was the voice of The Shadow. Mint except for the missing clutches.
