Item Description
18.5x24" frame contains artboard that has been matted to 13.25x18.75". Original pen and ink art by Bud Sagendorf for "Fish Bait!" story that was "Presented By Thimble Theatre" in "Four Color Comics" #168 in Oct., 1947. Art has text at lower left noting this as Page 33 of comic, but this is first page of this story. This was the last time Popeye was featured in "Four Color Comics," next appearing in his own title. Art features large title panel and five additional panels w/Professor Herman H. Haddock of The Blue Water Piscatology Society entreating Popeye to help him "To Hook A Roccus Scomberomus Lineatus" which confuses Popeye to no end before the Professor puts it in layman's terms and asks him to go fishing w/him, to which Popeye happily agrees. Popeye appears in three panels and last panel features angry man looking in window. Margins have some scattered aging/dust soiling but art remains clean and displays Exc. as framed.
