Item Description
This is one of only three examples we've seen of this ring in our 48 years. In Hake's Pop Culture Memorabilia Guide we cataloged this item on page 220 as BRG-221.We titled it "Buck Rogers Profile Ring" and gave it the following description. "Issuer unknown. Brass base with black and white paper image under beveled edge plastic top. First example surfaced in late 1960's. No documentation known and possibly a fantasy creation, but uncommon." One thing we didn't mention is that the underside ring base is a narrow circle of brass with expandable prongs. Also tiny text at bottom left corner reads: "Howdy Earth Folks/Dick Calkins/Buck Rogers." At upper left corner is tiny partial image of a rocket ship. This is not the same ring as that shown in the book as the artwork on book example is positioned a little higher partially cutting off the rounded accent on the top of Buck's space helmet. The ring is in Exc. condition with nice luster and a totally clean portrait under the plastic top. A very fascinating Buck Rogers ring.
