10-5/8x16" thin artboard featuring original pen and ink art by legendary Marvel Comics artist John Buscema (1927-2002) for "Conan The Barbarian" comic book issue #63, page #7 published by Marvel Comics, in June, 1976. Issue was written by Roy Thomas w/interior art by Buscema. Buscema is best known for his run on the series "The Avengers" and "The Silver Surfer," and for over 200 stories featuring the sword and sorcery hero Conan the Barbarian. In addition, he penciled at least one issue of nearly every major Marvel title, including long runs on "Fantastic Four" and "The Might Thor." He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2002. Seven panel page shows Conan's lover Bêlit, held captive by Amra, The Lion Lord. Last two panels features Conan sneaking in to rescue her, only to be confronted by one of Amra's several lions shown. Fourth 3.25x5" panel and fifth 3-3/8x5" panel were cut out and replaced w/different art by Buscema. Reverse has partial pencil/inked Buscema Conan sketches, some partially covered by tape used to secure replacement panels. Margins have some aging, w/aged tape stains and some lt. dust soiling. Art still displays Exc. and has been signed by Buscema at upper right top margin.
