Item Description
13-7/8x21-7/8" thin artboard featuring original pen and ink art by legendary comic book artist Jack "King" Kirby for the June, 1963 issue of "Strange Tales" #109 published by Marvel Comics. The title featured the Human Torch and the issue itself was written by Stan Lee w/art by Kirby and inks by Dick Ayers. Art is for page 2 of the "The Sorcerer And Pandora's Box" storyline which featured the Human Torch fighting a series of escaped imps. While no imps are seen on this page, the Human Torch is seen in the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building headquarters in both Flame-On and Flame-Off modes. In addition, all members of the Fantastic Four are featured on this page, including two panels featuring all four. Of the seven panels, Human Torch is featured in all seven, w/Thing being featured in six, Mister Fantastic is featured in three panels and the Invisible Girl is featured in four panels. Page features great dialog between Human Torch and Thing, w/the pair trading comic insults back and forth as is their way. Top margin has inked "Strange Tales" title w/"#109-2" issue/page number. Bottom right corner has large "2" page number in black felt tip pen. Sheet has scattered editorial notation at margins and some lt. margin handling wear/aging w/pinholes at corners. Page is Fine overall, while art areas remain bold, clean and VF. We are thrilled to offer this stunning piece of original art by a true comic book legend to the collecting community.
