Item Description
8x10" thin board w/fully painted art which is signed at lower right "Jorge S." and w/a date of 1938 reflecting the era of the image, not when the art was done. Art is of Brown in his Santa Clara Leopards uniform and shown throwing a pitch. Bkg. includes scoreboard. Top right has title "Raymond Brown Pitcher" and below this is Leopards pennant. Exc. Brown spent most of his years in the Negro League playing for Cum Posey's Homestead Grays and even married Posey's daughter Ethel. He also spent many seasons playing baseball in Mexico, Puerto Rico and Cuba (He played for the Leopards 1936-1939). He was inducted into the National Baseball HOF in 2006. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
