Item Description
17x19" thin artboard has original ink and watercolor art for a proposed CD release of the "Shut Up, Little Man!" audio vérité recordings of two argumentative and violent alcoholic roommates, Peter Haskett and Raymond Huffman of San Francisco, CA. The pair argued nearly constantly, w/Haskett often shouting "Shut Up, Little Man!" at Huffman. Their arguments were recorded, and the tapes were commercially released in 1992. Coop was contracted to create the cover and art features scene of Haskett and Huffman in intense argument, w/Huffman holding a fork in hand, his shirt covered in filth as Haskett screams at him and points, his eyes bulging. A large liquor bottle is in foreground and reads "Raymond & Peter - Shut Up, Little Man! - 180 Proof." Empty liquor bottle and cigarette butts litter the apartment and the wall has a San Francisco artist Margaret Keane-inspired big eyes portrait. This art was ultimately not used for the release. Coop (real name Chris Cooper) is a hot rod artist whose work consists primarily of barely clothed Bettie Page-style 1950s pin-ups and/or B-movie monsters. His art has become popular amongs the rock & roll and hot rod cultures. Coop has added his distinct signature at lower right. His original ink art from the last few years routinely sells between $3,000 and $5,000, and vintage art from earlier in his career rarely turns up. Artboard has some minor handling wear along margins though art remains bright and clean and would display NM if framed. Unique.
